Hi Marie & CK,
Great to read that you are going to visit Gede! We went to Malaysia and visited Kuala Lumpur, Taman Negara, Cameron Highlands, Pangkor, Penang, Langkawi. Malaysia is also very beautiful. We will be back to visit the other site of Malaysia in another season. The sand on the beach of Lovina is from a volcano and that is why it is not white like Langkawi. But the village, a small road, with hotels en restaurants and the size of the village are the same. Bali is very different than Malaysia, but you’ll see. Sanur is also a small village, the beaches are more white and there is a reef in front of the beach so there are no big waves (Kuta often has big waves). The villages you visit on bali are all different and all have their own charm. It is much nicer and more relaxed to stay some days in the villages than staying in 1 village and make tours on the island.
We also visited more countries far from the Netherlands than the countries surrounding us. In December we will go to Vietnam for 3 weeks. The flight is expensive, but the countries are cheap compared to Europe.

Hi Bjorn, thank you so much for your information. Your comparison with Pantai Cenang, Langkawi gave us a very clear picture. It is ashamed that Bali is so near to us, yet we are so foreign to them compared to you and the rest who has been there. Yes, we are going to stay at Gede's place for 2nights at least and some nights at Ubud and Sanur respectively. Cant wait to be there, unfortunately, in order to get best deal from AirAsia (our Malaysian's owned budget airlines)is always months ahead. Anyway, will keep everyone posted once we visited Gede Homestay. "Terima Kasih".

Hi Marie Lee,
I think it is a good place to stay a few days and explore Lovina and surroundings. The rooms are big and there can be placed an extra bed in the room. Ketut is also going to live in the homestay with his kids when Gede retires. They love kids on Bali.
Kuta and Lovina are two different worlds. Kuta is busy with a lot of people. Lovina is quiet and smaller. Lovina is like Langkawi (Pantai Cenang) but the beaches are not white. The homestay is a place where you really can relax from the fast world we living in. When you go back to your country you can stay a few days in Kuta for shopping. Sanur is also an option when you don’t want to stay in Kuta and is just 20 minutes from Kuta by taxi.
You definitely want to stay in Ubud a few days. There are a lot of nice homestays and hotels. We stayed at ‘Pondok Indah’ wich had a great view over the ricefields (but that is 6 years ago). The best way to explore Bali is to stay on Kuta, Lovina, Ubud, Sanur for a few days and when you have time you can go to the Gili Islands (perfect for scuba diving).

Heard so much about Bali and finally going in Jul 09 for 7days only (very excitied!!) After visiting your web, Bjorn...thank you for sharing, I thought Gede Homestay sounded like a perfect place for us. My only question..is it suitable for a 5years old boy to be there? Looking forward to anyone who can share their view on this and also, since this is our first trip to Bali, is Lovina as congested as Kuta? From what we gathered, Ubud is a good to stay too.
